American Clay Natural Earth Plasters is a practical, environmentally friendly alternative to cement, gypsum, acrylic, and lime plasters that deliver an “Old World” charm to any space. Manufactured in and using materials from the United States, American Clay uses natural clays, recycled and reclaimed aggregates, and vibrant natural pigments.

American Clay plasters are compatible with the “breathable” construction recommended for both historic and new buildings, and are non-dusting, mold and fade resistant, repairable and moisture controlling.

Natural Earth Plasters from American Clay are easily adapted to Do-It-Yourself projects. The Traditional and Classic method of creating American Clay surfaces is non-toxic, eActive Imageasy to repair, easily reworked, and exciting to learn.

American Clay plasters have a far longer working time than other plasters—up to several days if you need it—so you can take your time and work with confidence that the surface won’t “set” before you’ve achieved just the finish you want. Besides, there’s no waste. You can reuse any excess plaster—even after you’ve mixed it and it’s dried. Just break it up and rehydrate it. American Clay plasters can be troweled on like traditional plasters, but you can also spray them on with a drywall hopper.

American Clay plasters are available in one of three beautiful finishes: Loma, Porcelina, and Marittimo.

  • Loma: Provides the unique clay texture to the final surface of your walls, while also providing the basecoat for our other two dramatic finishes: Porcelina and Marittimo.
  • Porcelina: Gives your surface a satin smooth finish, which is highly sought after in the Venetian Plasters of Italy.
  • Marittimo: Born from the Mediterranean tradition of crushed shells mixed with clays and color to create a magnificent wax-like patina.
