Strongseal Rubber Roofing Underlayment

StrongSeal is a premium self-adhering roofing underlayment membrane made from recycled tires that delivers exceptional waterproofing performance over traditional asphalt based products.
StrongSeal is a proven underlayment that protects roofs from moisture intrusion created by ice dams and wind-driven rain. Roofing shingles are traditionally laid over an asphalt membrane which provides little to no protection from infiltrating water. Alternatively, StrongSeal is used on critical roof areas like eaves, valleys, ridges, rakes, dormers, and skylights to protect the structural roof deck from water penetration.
StrongSeal is a durable 40 mil thick rubber membrane that contains no asphalt. Chips or “crumbs” of shredded, recycled tires have been reformulated into an extremely durable, long lasting, and absolutely waterproof material that is earth-friendly and therefore ideal for LEED projects. For ease of installation and longevity, the membrane has a strong butyl adhesive backing that grips tightly to the roof deck when applied.
Among the many advantages of StrongSeal:
- Premium rubber barrier, not asphalt: Can withstand prolonged exposure and is durable enough to handle heavy foot traffic.
- High and low temperature resistance: Can withstand temperatures as high as 280°F and will not flow or leech like some asphalt membranes; and remains flexible in cold weather and will roll out without cracking or shatter when fastened
- Seals around small roofing penetrations: Seals around most penetrations like a gasket, resisting leakage and moisture intrusion from ice dams or wind-driven rain.
- Ease of installation: Lightweight rolls measuring 3 feet by 67 feet (201 square feet) and weighing just 54 pounds with a slip resistant surface ensure a safe and easy installation. Moreover, a perforated 18 inch release liner allows for accurate positioning, quicker one-person installs, and fewer caught edges.
- Easier & less costly re-roofing: StrongSeal will not adhere to the underside of the exposed roof covering, making re-roofing easier and less costly.
